Yoga Therapy

With Megan Elliott

Yoga therapy is the adaption of Yoga practices to meet the needs of people with specific or persistent health problems not usually addressed in a traditional yoga class. As a Yoga Therapist, Megan works with groups and individuals addressing all levels of the person: physical, energetic, psychological and spiritual.
With Megan each session is a personalized experience, addressing particular concerns and conditions. Weather you’re having difficulty structurally or the challenge is deeper lying we work together to find the best resolve for the whole body. Sessions with Megan are progressive offering you tools and practices prescribed for a more full, easeful and balanced life.

Sessions with Megan can include various styles of yoga, breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation and or guided meditation, personal affirmations and deep relaxation as well as other private offerings such as Thai Yoga Body work, Yoga Dance and Reiki. In Megan’s yoga therapy group sessions you get all of the benefits of a private session with the added support of a group atmosphere.
In her years as a Yoga Therapist, Megan has seen that the condition may not always be curable but “together we can work to shift outlook on life and improve quality of living.”
Yoga therapy is perfect for people who want to pro actively work with their condition or situation from a more intimate, holistic approach.
*The first session devotes more time to intake. Long term results work best in successive sessions and with the active participation of the student.

The yoga therapy components of my teaching are based on my ongoing studies of Yoga Therapy through the school of Integrative Yoga Therapy and from other advanced training, not derived from my status as an RYT/E-RYT with the Yoga Alliance Registry.

Thai Yoga Massage

Megan is a certified Lotus Palm Thai Yoga Body worker.
Traditional Ancient Thai Yoga Massage is a unique form of bodywork that incorporates Hatha Yoga, acupressure, and reflexology resulting in a comprehensive treatment balancing body and mind. The sessions take place on the floor or table, fully clothed. Megan moves your body through a series of yoga postures, palming, thumbing along the body’s meridian lines and pressure points. Together these actions offer a full body treatment that will help to clear energy pathways, relieve muscular tension, improve blood and lymph circulation, calm the nervous system, stimulate internal organs and boosts the immune system, just to name a few benefits.
*Perfect for someone who is recovering from an injury wanting a therapeutic approach or for someone who wants a whole body feel good experience.

Reiki & Aromatouch Technique

Reiki is a form of energy healing that can help alleviate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stress. It is a way to ‘tune-up’ your energy to it’s healthiest state allowing for the healing to take place. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

The Aroma Touch Technique includes four primary steps designed to minimize systematic stressors to autonomic balance. Each step includes the application of two essential oils or essential oil blends specifically formulated to support healthy emotional and physiological functions for well-being.

Aroma Touch oils are applied using relaxing massage strokes covering the entire back, neck, earlobes, and feet. AromaTouch is very effective and can be added to any Reiki Healing session to provide a deep sense of relaxation, balance and overall well-being.

The steps and oils used

STEP ONE
Stress Management (Balance & Calm) The AromaTouch™ Technique begins with dōTERRA®’s Balance Grounding Blend of spruce, rosewood, frankincense, and blue tansy followed by Lavender to support calming, de-stressing, and relaxation.

STEP TWO
Immune Support (Cleanse & Strengthen) After establishing a state of calm and tranquility, Melaleuca Essential Oil is applied as a cleanser and detoxifier, followed by an application of dōTERRA®’s On Guard™ Protective Blend of pure therapeutic-grade wild orange, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary essential oils that stimulates and supports the body’s own external and internal defensive immune functions.

STEP THREE
Inflammatory Response (Stimulate & Soothe) Step three begins with application of Aroma Touch™ Massage blend of basil, grapefruit, cypress, majoram, peppermint, and lavender to help stimulate blood flow to surface tissues, followed by a comforting application of Deep Blue® Soothing Blend
of wintergreen, peppermint, blue tansy, German chamomile, helichrysum, and osmanthus to help support a healthy inflammatory response in the body.

STEP FOUR
Homeostasis (Invigorate & Center) The final step of the technique includes an invigorating application of pure Wild Orange and Peppermint essential oils that refresh, rejuvenate, and center the body, mind, and spirit in strength and serenity.
